Episode 7

【HAKAKU (The Unprecedented)】ー The distortion to surpass the master—the roar of Oribe-ki ー
To break beyond the "static beauty" of his master, Sen no Rikyu, Furuta Oribe thrust "motion" and "wit" into the tea room.
In a shocking act of defiance, he deliberately crushed and distorted the perfectly round tea bowls loved by his master, creating the irregular Kutsugata (clog-shaped) form.
Asymmetry, vivid green glazes, and avant-garde patterns.
He demolished tradition to build a new playground upon its ruins.
Dedicated to Oribe-ki (the anniversary of his death), this plate stands as a living memory of the era when Mino ware was at its most radical, and its most radically free.

Oribe Mame-zara
A refined small plate (Mame-zara) that encapsulates Furuta Oribe’s avant-garde aesthetic of "motion" and "wit."
The piece features a beautiful contrast between the iconic, deep Oribe green glaze and the vivid crimson flush drawn out by the kiln's flames.
While it embraces a subtly distorted, asymmetrical form, the underside is crafted completely flat, allowing it to sit seamlessly and modernly on any table setting.

Perfect as a delicate dish for condiments, artisanal oils, or to elegantly elevate a single amuse-bouche, this versatile piece brings a striking artistic accent to modern fine dining.
